Universal Rules
The following is the set of restrictions the family must obey throughout the challenge. These rules are in effect for the entire challenge regardless of what restrictions you lift or what expansions you have.
- Lifespan must be set to normal.
- Ageing must be on for ALL households. You have an allowance of 10 days in total of no ageing across all family Sims throughout the duration of the challenge (if you have the MCCC mod you can flag a particular Sim for no ageing and he/she will be the only Sim that does not age, if not then disable ageing for the current household ONLY in gameplay settings).
- You may not age up Sims early. If the relevant restriction is cleared you may use the Birthday cake but only on the day of their birthday (once you receive the notification).
- A single sim may only lift one restriction in their lifetime.
- Sims who CAN lift restrictions (they all must live IN the household when they lift a restriction):
- The founder.
- The heirs - the Sim born in the household who will carry on the bloodline.
- Spares - progeny of the founder or heir, usually born after the next heir is born - who will not be allowed to marry and progress the blood line.
- The spouse of the founder and of each heir after they have helped bring in the next generation. If a spouse dies, you may remarry.
- Only ONE spouse per generation may lift a restriction, regardless of how many spouses you marry. If the old spouse died before bringing in the next generation, any career they completed does not count as a cleared restriction.
- Children of the heir or founder not born in the household, but brought in upon marriage of their mother. If they are married in BEFORE they turn teen they will be eligible to lift a restriction. These children can never carry on the blood line. If something happens to the heir and you only have these married in bloodline children, you will lose the challenge. They can NOT act as spares.
- Sims associated with the household who can NOT lift restrictions:
- Adopted sims.
- Robots.
- Pets.
- Ghosts.
- Children NOT of the blood line who are moved in with a spouse.
- Any children of the blood line who live outside the household.
- Only sims who will contribute to the next generation may be added to the family.
- If a spouse dies, you may marry another spouse as long as they are going to bring in an heir or a spare.
- Spares may not marry in a spouse.
- Exception - succession:
- The heir dies without having any children so a spare then becomes the heir.
- Married in spouses and clearing restrictions:
- If a sim who has topped out their career is moved in, that restriction category is immediately lifted upon the birth of the next heir provided that sim is married to the present heir.
- Only ONE spouse per generation may lift restrictions, so if a second spouse has topped a career but the first spouse already lifted a restriction, then the second spouse's topped career will not count toward your clears.
- Married in spouses and their inventories:
- Any item that is currently restricted must be sold immediately upon the spouse moving in to the household OR be placed into family inventory and left there.
- You may sell the unrestricted items in a just married in spouse's inventory if you wish or place them and use them in the household.
- If you are playing with a same sex couple, choose at the very start of the challenge whether your heir or their spouse will be the ones acting as the carrier of the children. For the rest of the challenge you must stay consistent and do that for every generation.
- You may not use the 'Hand of God':
- You may not click and drag trash, plates, spoiled food etc. to the trash can or the sink, your Sims must be the ones to clean up.
- They are also solely responsible for repairs. If Engineer-Mechanical Engineer has been cleared you may call a repair Sim or use the 'replace' interaction. You may not use the repair cheat.
- Bugs, glitches:
- There sometimes occurs a bug that automatically brings your Sim home when they go into labour but the game thinks they are still at work. In this instance you do NOT have to make them quit work but you may not give them any instructions or let any of your other Sims interact with them until the time the game thinks have completed their shift and are back at home.
- Not sure if this is a glitch or by design but the nurture interaction on the 'Mitey Mitey Home' insect farm takes FOREVER to increase the health of the insects. Therefore, if you don't want your Sims to spend their whole lives nurturing them, you are allowed to enable cheats, shift click on the farm and select 'Fill health'. You may only do this when the health is showing as 'declining'.
- Cheats, Mods and Hacks:
- Cheats, mods or hacks that give you an advantage over another player that doesn't use them are not allowed.
- Any cheat that increases the number allowed to live in the household above 8 is NOT ALLOWED.
- testingcheats on:
- Allowed to reduce your family funds to 0 for the weekly mob payment until Criminal-Boss is lifted, or if you need to delete or reset bugged items or sims.
- Mods – at your own risk
- No increasing the number of sims able to live in the house hold.
- No teen pregnancy.
- No settings that increase job performance or the time to clear careers.
- No settings that increase money earned or inherited.
- No settings that block things like losing your job.
- No settings that push sims to automatically do things that are still restricted (harvest plants, fish, etc).
